Navegantes is a typical countryside town, where the population cultivates the habits of the Azorean immigrants.
Most of the inhabitants make a living out of fishing and tourism which have contributed a lot to the development of the city.

Navegantes has the second largest airport in Santa Catarina, the Navegantes Airport.
With a long coast line, Navegantes has beautiful beaches: there is a German neighborhood in the beach of Gravatá.



Besides the beaches, tourists are attracted to the processions of boats through the river Itajaí-Açú together with the festivities of Our Lady of Prompt Succor of the Navigators.
